Iran’s Foreign Minister’s Remarks Misinterpreted, Ambassador

Kabul (BNA)  Iran’s foreign minister’s remarks on the upcoming Afghan elections and Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between Kabul and Washington was misinterpreted, said the Iranian ambassador, Mohammad Reza Bahrami at his meeting with Afghanistan deputy minister of foreign on diplomatic affairs.
At the meeting, Irashad Ahmadi Deputy Minister of Foreign on Diplomatic affairs spoke about the forthcoming tour of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and expressed concerns of the government regarding the recent Iranian foreign remarks about the election and BSA.
The deputy minister said about the election and the security and defense pact between Afghanistan and the US: “As we don’t want to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, they should also consider the accepted principles and rules of our country.”
“Afghanistan wants to have good relations with the neighboring country of Iran, but is willing to independently decide about its relation with other world countries under the supreme national interests”, he added.
He said the government of Afghanistan respects the decision of the tribal elders summoned at the grand traditional Loya Jirga to sign the pact that imposes no threat to the neighboring countries.
Meanwhile, Iranian ambassador said his country’s foreign ministers’ remarks had been misinterpreted by the journalist interviewed with him.
According to him, the election issue was not the agenda of the interview and the assertions never reflect the vision of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The ambassador assured to convoy the Afghan government concerns to his countries authorities.
