KABUL (BNA): The Salang Tunnel is set to reopen for traffic today, Wednesday, after a months-long rehabilitation efforts, officials said.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, who attended the tunnel’s inauguration ceremony, stated that this tunnel has been completely rebuilt, unlike anything in the previous 20 years when most projects were left unfinished or influenced by corruption.
Mullah Baradar went on to say that no foreign organization is involved in the tunnel’s reconstruction. The Islamic Emirate keeps its promises, and the Afghan people support the current leadership, he stated.
It should be noted that the Salang Tunnel’s reconstruction process began in the month of August this year and is expected to be inaugurated today.
