School Girls Increase In Bamyan

Kabul (BNA) Due to intense interest of people in Bamyan to education, awareness of families of women and children rights and efforts of Bamyan education department in establishment of girl schools, the presence of girls has recently increased in the province. Mohammad Reza Ada Head of education department of Bamyan in a telephonic contact told media, based on the policy of the Ministry of Education (MoE), we launch campaigns for enrolling of children to schools every year. The people interests also encourage us to pave the way for girls’ education. During the last seven years, the girls’ ennoblement has considerably increased. Ada went on to say, totally there are 383 high, intermediate and primary schools in Bamyan out of which 57 are girls High schools, 22 mixed high schools and 57 boys’ high schools. Similarly, there are 27 intermediate boys’ schools, 35 intermediate girls’ schools and 77 mixed intermediate schools plus 63 mixed primary schools. We had meetings with children parents and Ulema councils and they agreed to establish co-educative. Ada said, there are 7 Teacher Training Colleges and 14 religious schools. Out of 63 primary schools, there are 8 primary boys’ schools, 8 primary girls’ schools and 47 mixed primary schools.
The balance of females’ schools in this province also caused increase of girls’ number in schools. Head of Bamyan education department said, supply of textbooks is a big challenge for us. We hope this problem would be solved soon. People of Bamyan have always been supporting education as they even sent their children to schools in worst situations. There are certain obstacles including traditions, lack of female teachers and lack of buildings. At present 132 schools lack buildings and their students receive education in rental houses or under temporary tents. Ada added, Schools Contribution Boxes have been established to tackle shortage of schools buildings. Although, in the 14 years, education has developed in this province but still there are certain challenges.
