Progress in Housing Construction for Earthquake Victims in Herat Province

HERAT (BNA): The spokesperson for the commission aiding survivors of the Herat earthquake has announced that the construction of houses in some earthquake-affected areas is nearing completion, with an 80% completion rate.

These homes are soon to be handed over to families who lost their residences in the disaster.

Mullah Ahmadullah Muttaqi, the director of the Information and Culture Department in Herat, along with officials from the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Rural Development, inspected the construction process of the houses in the Seyaab and Nayeb Rafi regions of the province.

As the head of the commission assisting the earthquake-affected people, Mullah Ahmadullah Muttaqi told Bahktar News Agency that the construction of houses in some areas is 80% complete.

He assured that these houses would be delivered to the earthquake victims before the onset of winter.

In addition to housing, schools, clinics, and mosques are also being constructed. An engineer overseeing the construction in the Seyaab region reported that work is ongoing in two shifts, day and night, with active efforts to deliver the houses to the people of the region as soon as possible.

Mullah Sharafuddin Muslim, Deputy Minister of Rehabilitation and Rural Development, added that after the construction of houses, they will also provide employment opportunities for the affected people.

In the Seyaab region, where the earthquake damage was most severe, plans are in place to construct 225 houses.
