Pen Day Registered Into Afghanistan Calendar

Kabul (BNA) 16th Saur coincides with 6th May has been included as Pen Day in Afghanistan Calendar based on request of First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum. 
It is determined after this the day is celebrated in the country. First vice president office by releasing a statement in this regard says Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum has asked for including 16th of Saur as Pen Day.
The vice president in his message described pen as the instrument for progress and development of human society and development, adding the history of human development and cultural heritages, privacy of nature, galaxies as well as scientific inventions and explorations are written by pen.
The main reason for Afghanistan’s miseries and problems is illiteracy and inability of Afghans in using pen, the vice president noted and called upon his countrymen to give pen to their children instead of gun toys, saying the government of national unity from one hand has been fighting terrorism and from another is doing its best to facilitate the country’s children to get education. “Definitely, we Afghans embrace peace and prosperity if we replace the sword and Kalashnikov with pen,” the vice president asserted in his message.
