Govt. To Take Necessary Steps To Tackle Possible Natural Disasters: Abdullah

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has said that the government would take necessary measures on priority basis to deal with possible natural disaster.
According to Chief Executive Press office to BNA, he made the remarks while presiding over the government commission on natural disasters here in his office yesterday.
Attended by concerned Acting Ministers and officials from the Natural Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) the Chief Executive reviewed the situation in Salang Pass due to snowfall. It was stated that the Salang Pass is open and the concerned Ministers have readiness to keep the essential SalangPass open during winter. Situation in far-flanged districts was also discussed during the meeting and the Chief Executive instructed the concerned entities to have readiness in dealing possible situation. The Chief Executive also instructed the working team to prepare its operational plan for winter to deal with possible natural disasters and present it to the office of Chief Executive within the week.
According to another report, a delegation of elders and notables from Herat province called on the Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and briefed him about problems above all security in the province. Briefing the Chief Executive, the elders said they want the government to improve security, build schools, improve education quality and pay attention to industrial parks to improve economic condition of the people. After hearing the elders, Dr. Abdullah said that the government works on improving security and ensuring good governance on priority basis. The government, he said would do its best to improve education condition and would provide scholarship to students.
