MSF to Utilize Locally Produced Medicines for Services in Afghanistan

KABUL (BNA) – In a productive meeting held on Tuesday, Dr. Abdulbari Omar, the general director of the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority discussed the procurement of locally produced medicines with Philip Ribeiro, the head of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Afghanistan.

The primary discussions of the meeting revolved around Doctors Without Borders’ commitment to sourcing drugs from Afghanistan for their operations within the country.

Both sides emphasized the importance of supporting local industries and utilizing the abundant resources available in Afghanistan, according to a statement received by Bakhtar News Agency.

In a statement release issued by AFDA, it was highlighted that Doctors Without Borders expressed their intention to rely on domestically produced drugs to provide essential services within Afghanistan.

Mr. Ribeiro, the head of Doctors Without Borders in Afghanistan, underscored the significance of this initiative.

He emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting local farmers and businesses while also ensuring the provision of quality healthcare services to the Afghan population.
