10,000 People Given Jobs In Kandahar Since March: Official

Kabul (BNA) Job opportunities were provided to nearly 10,000 people by a government department in southern Kandahar province since March this year. 
Works, Social Affairs, Martyrs, and Disables Department head, Rafiulolah Mujaddadi said to this news agency, that the department had so for provided jobs to 10,883 people, including 4,000 teachers and government employees. 
Another 6883 people were appointed to Kandahar airport and some construction companies in Kandahar city, he added. 
On vocational training for youth, Mujaddadi said 160 people had received training in blacksmithing, wiring, carpet-weaving, air conditioners repair since March. 
About 500 people completed their trainings last year, he added. 
“Our department prefers giving jobs to people with disabilities. So far we have hired 22 such people against their actual quota of eight seats,” the director said. 
In compliance with a presidential decree, three percent of seats should be given to people with disabilities. However, according to Mujaddadi, the problem was that most of disabled people were illiterate.
