Mop-Up Operation Underway In Kunduz City, MoI

Kabul (BNA) A spokesperson to Ministry of Interior (MoI) says fresh forces have entered to Kunduz city and efforts of Afghan security forces are underway for specifying locations where armed Taliban are existed.
Speaking to journalists in a news conference yesterday, Seddiq Seddiqi said Kunduz city was in complete control of Afghan security forces, adding that security forces were engaged in search operation in the city.
According to MoI spokesman, minister of interior Noorulhaq Uloomi and ANA general chief of staff Gen. Qadam Shah Shaheem have paid a visit to Kunduz and closely review the city.
He said that more than 300 armed Taliban have been killed in Kunduz incidents and more than 30 others arrested, accusing the armed Taliban of using civilians as shield, adding that the insurgents have hidden in a number of localities in the city.
Related to bombardment of MSF hospital in Kunduz city, Sediqi said a group of insurgents have positioned in the hospital Friday night and probably planned to use it as their stronghold, or wanted to evacuate their injured individuals when came under attack.
He said that three doctors of the hospital were killed in the incident and investigation was underway in this regard.
The MoI spokesman added clearing and search operations were followed by the security forces and armed irresponsible individuals have been prevented in the operation.
He said Kunduz city would soon get its normal condition, adding that the city’s 200-bed hospital was not operating and aid programs have started for needy families in the city. 
Related to recent developments in Badakhshan province, Sediqi said during operation launched Friday night in the province, the Taliban so-called governor of Badakhshan Fasihuddin was killed along with his associates, adding that Baharak district of the province has been retaken by Afghan security forces and clearing operation was underway in Wardoj district of the province as well.
