Kabul (BNA) To celebrate New Year, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani planted a sapling in Arg landscape and congratulated New Solar Year to all Afghans, his office said in a statement the other day.
He said the government would do great works this year and it is hoped they would result in welfare, peace, people and country’s progress, the statement further said.
He added would meet with different segments of the country and make effort to prevent any intervention in election process, the statement added.
Addressing people, President Ghani said you should evaluate your representatives’ functions in Wolesi Jirga and give them the number they deserve and it is hoped they are accountable toward you, the statement continued.
“Reforms process is ongoing within Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and this year we would witness better results,” he said.
On peace process, he said there were many problems and they couldn’t cause to make us return.
He stressed that war is not the solution and whoever tries to continue war would face serious will of our nation.
In a separate message released by Chief Executive Office, Dr. Abdullah congratulated New Solar Year to all Afghan people and wished it to be a year of peace, security and welfare.
“Last year, the terrorists did their best to take the control of some parts, but as a result of ANDSF bravery and sacrifices, they failed to reach their vicious goal,” the message quoted the CE as saying.
“We invite armed insurgent groups to join peace process and stop implementing regional intelligences’ goals in Afghanistan,” the message added.
Dr. Abdullah said in the message we were committed to hold parliamentary elections and take necessary measures for presidential elections as well.
He also wished war, violations and killing innocent people to be ended this year.
