Destitute People In Government’s Focal Point, President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with the World Bank (WB) Vice President, Kyle Peters, said that the main focus of his government was the destitute people, the Bakhtar News Agency reported the other day.
The WB Vice President assured the president that he, leading the high ranking delegation has come to commit continuation of the World Bank to Afghanistan and congratulating the Citizenship Accord completion program to the president said the bank would continue cooperation with Afghanistan and express support to the government’s programs.
Thanking the delegation for cooperation in preparation process of the government for the Brussels summit, the president said the main focus of the government was the destitute and broke people when directly launching the uplift projects in the country, the agency said.
“We want to restore reforms and eliminate corruption and fight poverty as well as provide job capacity to the people, after the Brussels summit,” said the president as quoted in the agency’s report vowing the international aids would be spent transparently through the national budget,
He asked the WB delegation to cooperate with Afghanistan in the field of insurance and guarantees to help the investors invest tranquilly.
“Our main focus is production of energy and transit and we want to change Afghanistan into the regional energy and transit hub,” said the president calling the role of the private sector very significant and the World Bank role valuable in this respect and that through the CBR—capacity building reforms, the needed reforms would be brought in the government institutions.
The president said through the Citizenship Accord, distance between the rural areas and cities would be lessened.
The WB delegation said it was making effort to arrange its programs according to the government policies and praised the governments’ effort to strengthen regional cooperation and once again assured of their cooperation with Afghanistan.
The delegation said it was considering the Afghan government’s priorities, under which, we would work on improvement of the destitute people and revitalization of the war-torn country’s economy, the agency said.
