Daily Transit Shipments Surpass 2,000 Amidst Enhanced Customs Facilities

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Finance officials have reported that they have facilitated the necessary amenities in the country’s customs, resulting in an average of 2,400 transit shipments passing through the country’s customs daily.
According to a statement from the Ministry, significant facilities have been introduced for merchants at all customs points across the country. The working hours in customs have been extended from 16 to 24 hours, and modern electronic systems have been activated. The foreign transit standard has been extended from 5 days to 10 days, fostering transparency and expediting the stages of commercial goods. This has led to a significant increase in exports, foreign transit, and imports.
On average, approximately 2,400 shipments of exports, imports, and transit pass through the country’s customs daily. These include nearly 1,880 import shipments, 430 export shipments, and around 100 transit shipments, with a total weight exceeding 60,000 tons.
As part of its ongoing modernization of customs procedures, the Ministry of Finance will soon install 24 advanced electronic scanner units in 16 customs offices across the country. This initiative is aimed at enhancing transparency and speeding up the processing of commercial goods.
