COVID-19: MoPH Reports 46 New Cases, 189 Recoveries in Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) At least 46 new positive COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths from the infection have been recorded across the country in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Monday.

The ministry said 1,886 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 46 people, pushing the overall tally to 53,584.

Of the fresh cases, 11 were recorded in Kabul, eight each in Herat and Takhar, three each in Badakhshan and Badghis, two each in Balkh, Ghazni, Logar, Khost and Paktika and one each in Paktia, Daikundi and MaidanWardak provinces.

At least 189 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 44,137.

The ministry said 13 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths thus reached 2,301.

Initially emerged in Wuhan province of China, the virus then spread throughout the world. The US and Europe have been reporting a large number of infections on a daily basis. The global tally has now crossed the 90 million mark.

Lately many countries again closed their borders and delayed all types of travel in order to prevent the spread of the virus despite producing vaccines and their rollout by many countries.

The MoPH has urged people to reduce travelling overseas and also requested home quarantine in case of any visible symptoms.
