VP Danesh, UN Envoy Discuss Holding of Elections

Kabul (BNA) The second vice president Mohammad Sarwar Danesh met UN secretary general’s special envoy to Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto here in his office yesterday.
Both sides discussed holding of elections, emphasizing on speeding up the process by the government and the international community.
The second vice president emphasized on trust building between the government, election commission, political parties and civil society activists. He also said interference in election affairs should be seriously followed, adding government didn’t interfere in decisions of the commission and would not allow anyone to do so. VP Danesh said holding of transparent elections was the main demand of Afghans, adding consultations were going on with civil society organizations and international community.
Meanwhile the UN Secretary General’s special envoy hinted to importance of the elections, saying UN was ready to help Afghan government and election bodies to hold a transparent elections. He added UN had begun consultations with political parties, civil society organizations and the international community, aiming to find a better way for holding of a transparent elections.
