Cabinet Approves Revised Draft National Budget with Extra 20b Afghanis

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani presided over the cabinet meeting on Monday at the Presidential Palace, in which provincial governors were also connected via VTC, according to a presidential press office statement.

While condemning the terrorist attack on Zia Wadan, Spokesman of the National Public Protection Force, President Ghani once again expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs, members of the interior ministry and media, the statement said yesterday.

President Ghani spoke about his recent engagement with the lecturers and student of 46 universities including Kabul University on peace building as one of the main components of the Afghanistan National Peace and Development Framework II, as well as focus on a national dialogue for better negotiations in the second round of peace. He underscored that such discussions should be continued between government officials and other layers of the Afghan society.

Presenting information about his recent visit to Nangarhar province, President Ghani called on all relevant departments to strengthen coordination with relevant provincial governors, focusing on districts, villages and municipalities, and establish clear procedures for a better coordination of center with provinces.

Finance Minister Presented the second draft of the national budget for the fiscal year 2021 to the meeting, saying that during the fiscal year 1399 around 12% savings were made in the ordinary budget and despite the corona problem 86% of the development budget has been disbursed.

The Cabinet has approved a revised version of the national budget for fiscal year 2021, showing a 20 billion Afghanis increase in the total outlay from 425.641 billion to 473.040 billion Afghanis, the statement added.

The cabinet instructed the Ministry of Finance to adopt urgent measures to process it in the National Assembly.
