Kabul (BNA) Eighteen Taliban insurgents were killed in air and ground attacks by Afghan security forces in Kandahar.
The Taliban were preparing to attack military bases in Maiwand and Arghandab districts last night, but were targeted by Afghan security forces.
The Maiwand Corps in south-west of the country said in a news release that 18 Taliban insurgents were killed in the airstrikes.
According to another report, five Taliban insurgents were killed in a clash by commando forces in Kandahar.
The clash took place this morning in Shah Wali Kot district when commando forces stormed on a hideout of Taliban.
