Afghanistan to Increase Fresh Fruits Export To Russia

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan, enjoying costume exemption would increase fresh fruits exports and vegetables to Russia, official said adding up to 300,000 tons of the same goods would be shifted to that country this year. Deputy Chairman of Afghanistan chamber of commerce and industries, Khan Jan Alokozai told that the country’s traders have been encouraged to increase in their exports of fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia from both the ground and air, after enjoying the custom tariff. Shir Ali Tarzi, an economic expert said the country’s farmers said they don’t earn money corresponding the main price of their commodities inside the country’s market, therefore the need to import vegetable from outside the country, causing not to remain inclined of resorting to reproduction. But, when see their products could find market out of the country, particularly, Russia, they become glad for the measure made by the two governments’ commerce ministries.
The move would encourage the country’s producers to increase in their products inside the country and become hopeful for what they are encouraged to grow and process in the mostly agriculture based country.
Another economic expert, Nabi Sadat also believed, as Afghanistan was an agriculture country, the fresh fruits and vegetable growers would find a good position of enjoying high income from their works when their products were helped reach Russia and other countries. The program would help both the exporters and the government enjoys benefit from, when the fresh fruits and vegetables are exported to other countries.
This would also encourage domestic products grow further than the past; he said asking for more to be done in this field by the government. Ahmad Shekib, a student of economic faculty at the Kabul University said if the process could continue and the country’s fresh fruits and vegetables were exported to Pakistan and India and most importantly, through the recent plan, to Russia, the prices would decrease, something leads to economically dealing of commodities inside the country and receiving high incomes to the exporters. He asked the government for extending the country’s fruits to the world markets. Encouragement of agriculture growth in Afghanistan would help the producers give up drugs and resort to the legitimate plantation of fruitful trees and vegetables.
