Mafia, Terrorists Groups Make Utmost Benefit Of Narcotics: Khalili

Kabul (BNA) The world day on struggle narcotics was marked in presence of Mohammad Karim Khalili second vice-president at the Amani High School. 
It was also attended by speaker of House of people, ministers of public works, public health, women affairs, refugees and expatriates, some members of parliament, some ambassadors of friendly countries and neighboring countries and other high ranking government officials. 
To start with Minister of counter narcotics talked on the government program aimed at struggle against narcotics, cultivation, production and challenges in this respect and said that sky rocketing of the prices of narcotics at world markets, existence of smuggling networks of narcotics in the region and the world are factors for rise in production of narcotics in Afghanistan. 
He also cited to war, insecurity, joblessness, existence of terrorist networks and migration as the domestic factors leading to increase in cultivation and production of narcotics. 
He also considered coordination of the neighboring countries and training of the police forces of Afghanistan as the positive factors in the struggle against narcotics. 
Mohammad Karim Khalili addressed the meeting and said that despite measures in this respect in case more principled measures are not adopted in uprooting financing and smuggling of narcotics, it is feared that this phenomenon change into  a growing crisis in the country. 
He stressed that while most of the income of cultivation and smuggling of narcotics poured into the pockets of international mafia, the people of Afghanistan are further discredited.
He added that presently the income from the production and smuggling of narcotics are used for financing of the terrorist groupings and the mafia groups are making utmost benefit of this as well. 
He emphasized that there is need for further coordination among the departments involved in this sphere as we cannot alone achieve anything with mere talking and there is need for decisive measures against the narcotics mafia bands even if they are the higher government ranks. 
Emphasizing on the importance of cooperation of the international community and the government of Afghanistan in the struggle against narcotics, he stressed that during the past years the people of Afghanistan rarely seen that the mafia are legally punished.
