MoIC Holds Copyright Awareness Workshop

Kabul (BNA) For awareness of copyrights, a workshop was held on Wednesday by ministry of information and culture in cooperation with the ATAR project and USAID.
In the workshop, copyright-related issues, introduction and spiritual obligation and kinds of copyright, need of a particular law for protection of copyright, reason of the protection and registration of copyright and its rights were discussed.
In opening ceremony of the workshop, deputy minister of financial and tourism for information and culture Zardasht Shams spoke related to importance of awareness of publishers, artists, writers and poets from copyright, asserting that judicial organs should punish those individuals and organizations trying to violate copyright in the country.
According to Zardasht Shams, no persona and organization is allowed to copy others’ artifacts based on law of copyright.
Deputy Minister of financial and tourism further said that implementation of the copyright law in the country was not only the responsibility of MoIC, saying that other government institutions and media should play their role in this regard.
Following, legal advisor to Afghanistan trade and incomes project Ahmad Seyar Sahar and director of copyright for MoIC Zakiullah Amiri briefed the participants related to the copyright law.
