Acting Minister of Water and Energy Promises Electricity for Aynak Copper Mine Project

KABUL (BNA): A crucial coordination meeting was held between the Ministry of Water and Energy’s leadership and officials from the Aynak Copper Mine contracted company. The primary focus of the meeting was the electricity supply to the mine.
Ghulam Jelani Haqparast, the head of the Information and Publications Department of the Ministry of Energy and Water, reported that Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, the Acting Minister of Water and Energy, and Mawlavi Hamdullah Zahid, the Deputy Water and Energy Minister, discussed the electricity supply for the Ainak Copper Mine project with officials from the MCC Company.
The Acting Minister of Water and Energy proposed that the company invest in and adapt the Baghdara and Sarobi 2 hydropower projects. This would not only ensure the necessary electricity supply but also benefit the people of Afghanistan through the implementation of these projects.
The Acting Minister assured the company officials of swift coordination efforts and the commencement of practical work. He further assured them that the ministry’s technical team is ready to share the necessary information with the company officials.
Simultaneously, the officials of the company responsible for the copper contract also assured their commitment to expedite the process and initiate necessary reviews as soon as possible for final agreements.
