Abdul Rauf, Reunited with His Family After Two Years of Captivity

KABUL (BNA) Abdul Rauf has reunited with his family after two years of captivity. security officials confirm his release on Saturday.

Abdul Rauf, a teenager who was abducted in Balkh almost two years back, has been released. said Mujahid spokesman.

During a ceremony in the presence of Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi Deputy prime minister of Afghanistan, Abdul Rauf was reunited with his family. added Mujahid on his tweeter handle.

Abdul Rauf’s father says the abductors demanded $1.2 million in exchange for his son’s release.

“The person who abducted little Abdul Rauf from Mazar-e-Sharif was Salaf Bai Kefayat and Akhtar Khan’s child’s conscience. He adds.

In support of Abdul Rauf’s father, he and a number of his supporters have been setting up a sit-in tent in front of the Balkh governor’s office, when he had kidnaped in early 1399 by abductors.

Early days, Afghan Twitter users launched a campaign called “Return Abdul Rauf back Home.”

Abdul Rauf was only 9 years old at the time when abducted from a school in the 4th police district of Mazar-e-Sharif in the month of Aqrab in the 1399 solar year. Reports say.

Successive operations by security forces failed to succeed in rescuing him from the grip of abductors at the time of the former administration, untill recently.

Intellegence forces of the Islamic Emirate launched operations weeks ago, which the results yeilded rescuing Abdul Rauf from the grip of abductors after almost two years. Said the department in a series of tweets.
