Dr. Abdullah Chairs High-Level Meeting On Uruzgan Security Situation

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive (CE) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has reviewed the security situation in central Uruzgan province during an extra ordinary meeting and ordered policemen salaries to be paid till tomorrow, said a statement from the CE office on Monday.
National Security Advisor, Defense and Interior Ministers, Army chief, Uruzgan governor, provincial council members, elders and other high ranking security officials attended the meeting, the statement said.
Provincial government officials and local representatives briefed CEO over situation in the province and discussed the problems they are faced with.
Uruzgan governor explained the deteriorated security situation in the province and demanded the security situation, banking and telecommunication services to improve.
The governor also demanded reopening of roads that connected districts with Tarinkot, the provincial capital, reforms in local governance, better coordination among different security institutions.
They also urged the government to launch crackdown against the Taliban as the group was behind terrorist attacks in the province and halted the transfer of food items to the districts.
Dr. Abdullah tasked the high ranking officials to review the problems of Uruzgan as soon as possible and respond to the expectations of the residents of this province. He also insisted on the salaries of Uruzgan provincial police to be given in the next day.
Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah ordered the Interior Ministry to bring necessary reforms in the police force in Uruzgan province and to meet the needs of the security forces.
During the meeting CE asked for report over the activities of local policemen and said there was need for proper strategy to organize the local security forces.
According to another report, Dr. Abdullah met with a number of Zabul elders, provincial council members and lawmaker and discussed security situation of the said province. In the meeting Chief Executive ordered Ministries of Defense and Interior to take necessary measures for improving of the security situation in the said province.
