President Ghani Receives Credentials of New British Ambassador

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani received the credential of Britain’s new ambassador to Afghanistan, Ms. Crain Peers in a ceremony in Arg on Tuesday.
The President in the meeting with ambassador also attended by Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, exchanged views on matters pertaining mutual interests including women rights, fighting terrorism and enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. Besides welcoming the ambassador, President Ghani thanked Britain for its cooperation with Afghanistan. The ambassador promised to spare no efforts in farther boosting bilateral relations between her country and Afghanistan. According to another report, Foreign Minister Rabbani during courtesy meeting with new British ambassador, Ms. Crain Peers, described Britain as a trustable friend of the people and government of Afghanistan. Besides welcoming the new ambassador, Foreign Minister Rabbani expressed gratitude over Britain’s contribution to Afghanistan in the fields of economy, reconstruction, education, capacity building, counter-narcotics and training national security forces over the past 14 years and said that Afghanistan is determined to overcome the challenges and to become active partner of the international community in future. Afghanistan has important place in the foreign policy of Britain and her country would continue to support Afghanistan, the ambassador of the United Kingdom said during the meeting. According to another report, a delegation of elders and notables from eastern provinces called on President Ghani and apprised him about their problems. Speaking on behalf of others, Hajji Ehsanullah Kamawal said that the people’s demand from the government of national unity is to ensure security, construct roads, highways, railways, reconstruct Nangarhar canal and improve quality of education at educational institutes. After listening to their demands, the President pointed out that the government administrative affairs need fundamental changes and the work on development projects would soon be launched in the eastern provinces.
