JAPAN To Provide $30 Million In Aid to MoPW

Kabul (BNA) As part of its grant aid to Afghanistan, recently, Japanese government announced to provide an amount of $ 30 million financial aids to the ministry of public work.
Talking on the topic, deputy minister of public works told media that for maintenance and protection of highways the concerned ministry intends to purchase at least 160 transportation vehicles to accommodate those areas where people and travelers confront technical problems. Deputy of minister of public works said that nearly 300 remote areas of the country should be equipped with latest transportation vehicles to facilitate the commuters during the winter seasons and in case of any kind of natural disasters. Meanwhile, head of Japanese Jackson Company describes purchasing of the equipment as productive step for protection and maintenance of highways and roads and urged that it will also support economic development of the country. Head of Japan’s Embassy financial cooperation section told media in Kabul that Japanese government has established nearly 7, 00 km road across Afghanistan since 2001 and it also supported government of Afghanistan in different social sectors. However, international community raised billions of dollars financial aids to Afghanistan over the last eleven years, but still the country needs financial assistance of the donor nations to fulfill its financial requirements and development projects including road construction program. The people of Afghanistan expect that allies of the country will continue backing the country in renovation and rehabilitation of its basic economic infrastructures to lead the country towards self-reliance and socioeconomic wellbeing following the country in 2014.  Local resident Qader said,  that two years before the process of road construction in capital city Kabul was in some extent extended process, but the quality of the materials used for construction of road or asphalting not achieved public trust, it important to mention that Japan has been the second largest donor to Afghanistan after the United States.
