Allocation Of $ 1.5 Million To Construct Shah Toot Dam

Kabul (BNA) It’s expected that ministry of water and energy soon start construction of Shah Toot Dam over the Kabul River to facilitate resident living around the Dam and to ensure regular flow of water in the Kabul River throughout the year.
Minister of water and energy said that construction of the mentioned Dam requires nearly $1.5 million and it will be provided through development funds of the ministry of water and energy as lack of clean drinking water in the capital city and none existence of regular water flow in the river diverted the ministry to construct this dam.
Officials of ministry water and energy have announced construction of the concerned dam as significant step to irrigate up to four thousand hectors agricultural lands and it will also ensure regular water flow of River Kabul and would facilitate water reserves in the city.
Minister of water and energy said that contract for construction of the dam has been signed with an Iranian company and will be completed within the next 18 months adding that the project will support energy production in Mahipar hydro power dam.
Height of the dam is about 113.2 meters and it has the capacity to reserve up to 250 million square meter water. 
Technical and economic studies over the dam completed by the Iranian company in 1387 with the cost of two million dollars.
A local resident described construction of dams in the country as dire need of the country today and it support us to produce more energy and irrigate more agriculture lands.
This came after dams in various parts of the country have totally damaged and people in some regions lacking adequate clean drinking water and their health are in danger.
