President Ghani Inaugurates 3rd Phase of Kamal Khan Dam Project

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Thursday inaugurated 3rd phase of Kamal Khan Dam project in Chaharburjak district, of Nimroz province, a presidential statement said.
Besides welcoming President Ghani and the accompanying delegation and pointing to Kamal Khan dam project, Nimroz governor Eng. Mohammad Sami said the long-awaited dream of Nimroz people was fulfilled with inauguration of the 3rd phase of the project.
Hinting to important role of President Ghani in development of the country, Nimroz governor thanked the president for his efforts in implementation of the infrastructural projects.
Thanking Nimroz people and officials for warm hospitality, the president congratulate inauguration of the 3rd phase of the project, adding the province would once again turn to center of civilization.
Calling the inauguration day of the dam as the biggest day for Nimroz people, the president said the project would bring facility and welfare to the people as well as would economically help them.
Quoting President Ghani during his remarks at the inauguration, the statement added that Kamal Khan dam was a mean of Afghanistan’s honor which will help the country manage water and prevent its wastage.  “Water is our wealth.
Government is determined to implement economic and infrastructural projects.”
The president said the Kamal Khan Dam project would change Nimroz and improve the local economy.  “Management of water will create cooperation not disputes, which will be arranged based on agreements and law,” he stated, calling on the people to cooperate with government in implementing infrastructural projects.
“Anyone who thinks about building Afghanistan is accepted by the people and government, however, we will fight against those who think about the destruction of Afghanistan, because our people want life, water and welfare.  There is no place for destruction in Islam,” President Ghani stated.
Minister of Energy and Water, Ali Ahmad Osmani, said the successful completion of the project was one of Nimroz residents’ dreams.  He said his ministry is working on a four-year plan on water management and the use of dams nationally which would be one of the biggest achievements of government.
“The Kamal Khan Dam project will irrigate more than 80,000 hectares of agricultural land and will create job opportunities for dozens of residents,” the minister said.
At the end, elders of Nimroz province tight turban for the president, wishing him success in implementation of the projects and good governance.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the head of the construction company, senior officials from Nimroz as well as a number of local residents.
