Kabul (BNA) After almost two months, the first India’s assisted wheat cargo arrived in Kabul on Saturday, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported.
According to the agency, the donated wheat is expected to be kept in the ministry of agriculture’s silos. The cargo was including 15000 tons of wheat which was loaded in Aqrab 7 from India’s Kandla port, in a bid to transfer the first wheat cargo to Afghanistan through Chabahar Port, the agency added. Calling the day, one of the happiest days between the two countries, Indian embassy’s Chargé d'affaires said the move was one of the highest relations between Afghanistan and India, BNA continued. He stressed that transferring of the wheat shipment, was among the India commitments to Afghanistan which was given in 2002, the agency continued.
Based on the commitments, India should send 1.1 million tons of wheat to Afghanistan, BNA added. Taliban as a pressure mean have tried to hinder the transferring of cargo from Nimruz to Kabul, the agency stated. The move aims to help India have access to Afghanistan and Central Asia markets. The assisted wheat is expected to be kept in seven provinces of the country.
