CM Assigns Minister Of Mines And Petroleum To Discuss Ainak Copper Mine Proposal With China

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai chaired the plenary meeting of the Council of Ministers at Gulkhana Palace of Presidential Office yesterday morning.
Initially, President Karzai recalled the publishing the names of five thousand Afghans who were martyred by the then ruling regime between the years 1978 and 1979, and stressed that as per consultation with the Jehadi and political leaders it was decided that to pay tribute to the status of martyrs of the country, on Monday Sept. 30 a mourning ceremony will be organized throughout the country and the Afghan national flag will remain half-mast and to pay homage to the high status of martyrs in a mosque and memorial monument and a park to be constructed in Kabul.
The Council of Ministers emphasizing on holding mourning ceremonies in Kabul and in the provinces instructed the administration affairs department and secretariat of CM and the local organs department to organize this ceremony in the capital and provinces and the ministry of interior and directorate of national security to ensure the security of the ceremonies.
Minister of Mines and Petroleum presented the proposal of the Ainak Copper Mine on behalf of the MCC of China with respect to its financial, technical, security, exploration, attachment projects, extraction, processing and production of copper.
The CM after assessing of the proposal assigned the Minister of Mines and Petroleum to share the proposal with the Chinese government in accordance with the contract and report back to the CM.
At the end of the meeting a report on the accomplishments of the appreciation program, start of food zone program in Kandahar and the program for facilitating collection of agricultural and rural development (CARD-F) in three provinces was presented to the CM by Counter-Narcotics Minister which was confirmed and the CM assigned the ministry that in cooperation with related ministries facilitate promotion and extension of the program in other provinces.
