Kabul (BNA) February 22 the anniversary of epical uprising of Afghan nation against the Red Army’s aggressors and the regime under its support is a turning point in the modern history of Afghanistan that we honor it.
BNA political analyst commenting on the issue writes on February 22 just 2 months after the aggression of Red Army to Afghanistan, Kabul citizens in a general uprising expressed their hatred and disgust the aggressors and the then Soviet Unions’ puppet regime and proved that the Afghans defend their national identity, religious values and freedom with any cost.
The uprising took place against a regime that emerged with crying hypocritical slogans such as equality, democracy and establishing a better society, while in reality had no any objectives but ensuring the goals of the then Soviet Unions. The activities of regime, which were against all religious values, traditions, and people’s beliefs caused the outrage of Kabul citizens and finally they showed their hatred against the puppet regime and their masters. In this way, once again the Afghans proved that they are irreconcilable with alien ideologies against their culture and faith.
The Red Army’s invasion to Afghanistan was against international and good neighborhood standards and somewhat strangulated the voice of the world, because in the first days of the aggression the world people considered Afghanistan a part of political geography of the former Soviet Union and believed nobody can fight against such a super power like Soviet Union. However, the uprising of Kabul residents was a strong voice of Afghans that reached the ears of people across the world and gave the message that the Afghans firmly stand against any invasion, never surrender, and heroically defend their national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. February 22 uprising once again drew the world attention to Afghanistan. The barbaric suppression of the uprising by regime severely condemned by prestigious international organizations such as UN, NATO, the Conference of Islamic Countries, and Non- aligned Countries Organization. Meanwhile, the world great countries and influential Islamic countries in order to encourage Afghan people in their holy war against aggressors expressed their all sided support and in this way isolated the then Soviet Union the international arena.
On the other hand, the uprising indicated the solidarity and unity of Afghans. The up risers in the name of Afghans and Muslims came to the streets in complete unity and firmly stood against aggressors. The people who lost their lives, injured or imprisoned called themselves Muslims unrespectable of their ethnicity, religious and linguistic affiliations.
The uprising is an example of resistance and devotion for the cause of homeland and religion and a lesson of bravery, patriotism, and honor for the new generation. We should learn more from the 22 February uprising, specially the people who in various names and titles are serving foreign intelligence conducting suicide attacks kill our innocent people and destroy our homeland should learn from the up risers of Feb. 22 the lessons of humanism, freedom, and patriotism.
