President Ahmadzai Meets Australian Governor General

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met the other day with Governor General of Australia Peter Kaskrov. In the meeting held at presidential palace, both sides discussed and exchanged views on relations between the two countries in various sectors. The Australian Governor General congratulated victory of Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in presidential elections, wishing him further success in his new career. The country’s President while welcoming the Australian Governor General praised Australia for cooperation and assistance to Afghanistan in various sectors. “Pass my message to the people of Australia that their assistance will be effectively and transparently spent in Afghanistan”, Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai said in the meeting. The Australian Governor General said Afghanistan has started a new phase, adding they were happy over the reforms followed by the new government of Afghanistan.
He said widely participation of the people of Afghanistan in recent presidential elections has made the people of Australia hopeful on Afghanistan future. At the end of the meeting, the Australian Governor General granted a cricket bate decorated with signs of the Australian national cricket team members to President for supporting Afghanistan national cricket team. According to another report, Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in a separate meeting with Australian ambassador to Kabul expressed happiness over the Australian assistance to Afghanistan, asking for enduring the assistance in financial, security and higher education sectors. President Ahmadzai also praised Australia for its assistance to reconstruction of Urzgan province. In return, the Australian ambassador to Kabul John Philip reiterated his country’s enduring commitment to Afghanistan.
