Consultation Meeting Held On Basic Principles of Foreign Policy

Kabul (BNA) A consultation meeting on the codification of the basic principles of foreign policy of Afghanistan was held at the MoFA yesterday.
The meeting was attended by a number of members of the international relations commissions of the parliament.
The meeting chaired by the deputy foreign minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai, was attended by a number of members of international relations commissions of parliament and members of the commission for drafting basic principles of foreign policy of the MoFA.
Dr. Faramarz Tamana secretary of the committee presented information regarding the methodology of codification principles of this major national document and then a comprehensive discussion took place regarding the context of this document by the participants. While offering his programs to the parliament prior to attaining vote of confidence, MoFA Salahudding Rabbani had promised that codification of the basic principles of foreign policy of the country and sending it out to both houses of the parliament for approval would constitute one of his priorities. After taking office, he formed a commission under the chairmanship of the deputy foreign minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai to prepare a draft on foreign policy basic principles.
After preparation of the draft, now it is the time to discuss this major national document with the entities and experts to collect their ideas and send it to the parliament for approval. Its first consultation meeting was held yesterday, and such meetings will continue in the future too.
