Islamic Emirate Plans Construction of Baghlan’s Largest Dam

PUL-E-KHOMRI (BNA): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is set to construct the largest water dam in Baghlan province, with an estimated budget of 250,000 US dollars.
The Kilagai Hydropower Dam Project, located in the Doshi district of Baghlan, is the largest hydroelectric dam in the north. Funded by the Islamic Emirate, the project aims to secure financial resources and is poised to commence practical work following budget allocation.
Eng. Asifullah Rahimi, Technical Advisor to the Baghlan Basin, informed BNA that economic and social surveys of the Kilagai Dam have been conducted in previous years. The leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to the dam’s construction, and efforts are underway to initiate its practical work in the upcoming year by securing the necessary funds.
The construction of this dam will generate fifty-seven megawatts of energy, supplying electricity to thousands of households. It will also provide the water required for ninety thousand hectares of farmland in northern Afghanistan.
The dam’s construction will also create job opportunities for thousands of people. In addition to the Kilagai Dam, preliminary works have begun for the construction of the Hasan Tal Dam, Tangi Nahrin Dam, Pesha Qol Dam, and Charmab Dam in Baghlan province.
