Kabul (BNA) IEA Acting Minister of Interior Alhaj Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani met with Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator and his accompanying delegation, today in Kabul.
In the meeting, UN Under-Secretary-General Martin Griffiths and his accompanying delegation thanked the Acting Minister of Interior for ensuring the security of all UN agencies.
The Minister also thanked Mr. Griffiths for his continued humanitarian assistance said: For the past 20 years, the International community has tried to persuade Afghans to accept their demands through force and intimidation, but what is most reassuring is that we are now resolving issues through understanding and negotiation.
We want to send a message to the world that we have strong intentions and readiness for interaction, Acting Minister added.
The UN Under-Secretary-General said: We want to ask for four billion dollars for Afghanistan at tomorrow’s International conference, an unprecedented annual contribution in the history of the United Nations.
