Kabul (BNA) Since a while, the Pakistani army has intensified military movements alongside the Durand Line and hoisted their country’s flag, an action which is in contrary with previous commitments made before the government of Afghanistan. In a statement released recently, the government of Afghanistan said, ‘Pakistan should increase fighting terrorism instead of conducting military movements.’ Officials of the Afghan ministry for foreign said that recently, the Pakistani army has conducted military movements alongside the zero point of the Durand Line, a move that can fuel tensions between the two countries. Afghanistan-Pakistan relations have recently become sensitive and such actions can fuel tensions, because, the people living in two sides of the Durand Line have had friendly relations since long, they added. Pakistan should focus on war on terror so to remove the main obstacles before peace and stability in the region, the officials went on to say. The ministry of foreign has recently announced its opposition on recent decision of the Pakistani government on bringing pressures on tribal areas’ residents to receive visa while going to Afghanistan, adding this is a one side decision and is impossible to forcibly split up the people.
Meanwhile, a number of lawmakers, political experts and citizens said, ‘Afghans will never surrender Pakistan’s demands.’ Condemning the act, Hasibullah Kalimzai, second deputy to Meshrano Jirga said, ‘the Afghans have always made sacrifices to protect their soil and are ready to defend their country in the future up to the last drop of their blood.’ As an Afghan and representative of the people, we condemn the Pakistan action, he stressed that Afghans will never surrender Pakistan’s demands. Mohammad Abduh, a lawmaker believes that Pakistan has always made effort to introduce Afghanistan as an insecure country to the world and it recent step alongside the Durand Line is clear violation in internal affairs of Afghanistan, therefore, Pakistan should know that Afghans will never let their country to be threatened by other countries. He added I expect the government of Afghanistan to prevent the Pakistan’s action at its earliest, because it is not the first time that border violations occur by this country. At the same time, officials of the ministry for defense said that any violation alongside the Durand Line is in contrary with international laws and norms and the National Security Council should start investigation in this regard. A private university lecturer, Wahid Hamrah said, ‘Pakistan has always played double policy before Afghanistan over the last fourteen years and its recent action is unacceptable to us and the government should not keep silence in the respect.’ This is while that Afghanistan has friendly relations with all world countries and asks the neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan to make serious efforts in strengthening relations.
