President Ghani meets Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan Counterparts

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on the sideline of 56th Munich Security Conference here on Friday evening, a presidential statement said yesterday.
Both sides discussed trade, transit, bilateral cooperation and state to state agreement on purchasing of oil, the statement added.
Hinting to enhancing bilateral cooperation, Azerbaijani president said his country was willing to improve ties with Afghanistan.
Thanking Azeri readiness for cooperation with Afghanistan, the president said was willing to utilize successful experiences of Azerbaijan in areas of customs and fiscal management system, the statement quoted him as saying.
According to another report, President Ghani also met with president of Kazakhstan on the sideline of 56th Munich Security Conference yesterday.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan said that would appoint his country’s special envoy for Afghanistan, adding peace and stability in the country was important for Kazakhstan too and that he was supporting regional and international approach for peace in the war-torn country.
He also said that his country was ready to extend support for Afghanistan in areas of education, in particular granting scholarships to Afghan youth, according to the statement from the presidential press office.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also said that trade ties between the two countries have increased to even five times, adding that it was needed to keep balance of the imports and exports between the two countries.
