8th Silk Route Festival to be Held in Bamyan

Kabul (BNA) After gaining the title of the first cultural capital of SAARC, Bamyan will now host a magnificent the 8th Silk Route festival, an official said. The festival expected to be held in the ancient Bamyan province, would be cooperated by the Ministry of Information and Culture, according to Malalai Zakaria, head of Afghan Solidarity who added Bamyan’s historical objects including the two destroyed giant Buddha Statues eight other cultural heritages subject to danger had been registered with the UNESCO. The province had fortunately gained membership of the world’s creative cities; she said adding therefore the Silk Route festivity is expected to be held in the province, where the main target was to display the noble culture of the Afghans, including traditional local costumes and local sports to the visitors.
Documentaries would also be displayed in the festival, during which different documentary films would be shown to the audiences as well as workshops would be held about what is cinema and how is its position in Afghanistan. Local music would also be played and music instruments would also put on show in the festival, said Mrs. Zakaria. “Different calligraphies, landscape pictures would be among different local foods from 34 provinces of the country to be displayed to the visitors and a theater to describe the Ghulghola city’s background is also on hand to be shown. Visitors, besides those from home country, would arrive from India, Sri Lanka, Los Angelis of the U.S., Paris and other neighboring countries like Tajikistan and Iran, with link to the Silk Route, said Zakaria adding
Though, Afghanistan is insecure but, Bamyan province is ready for the tourists and visitors, she said adding they wanted to introduce the culture of the country to the world. Some 17,000 visitors have taken part in the Silk Route’s 7th festival, she said hoping that the 8th festival would attract over 25,000 visitors from home and overseas. Other provinces of the country, like Balkh, Badakhshan, Herat and Kabul would host the next celebrities and “We hope all the provinces of the country could peacefully host the grand ceremony,” she concluded.
