Tuesday, March 22, 2016
Kabul (BNA) High-ranking officials of National Unity Government greeted the nation on Nawroz (new solar year), expressing optimism about Afghanistan’s future, peace and stability.
Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Dr. Abdullah hoped the new solar year would bring the people peace, stability, security, prosperity and dignity, his New Year message said,
The  solar year 1394 (past year) was full of challenges due to war, domestic and foreigner conspiracies, lack of resources and an increase in joblessness, the CEO admitted.
The enemies of Afghanistan tried to bring down the current political system and make the country a hub of international terrorism once again, he alleged. But the brave sons of the soil did not let them succeed in their nefarious designs, he said.
Similarly, 2nd Vice-President, Mohammad Sarwar Danish also hoped the New Year would be the year of peace and happiness for the entire world, especially the people of the country.
The New Year would also be full of challenges, he anticipated. But the government would use all available resources to maintain security, he promised.
Acting Defence Minister Masoom Stanikzai said the Afghan National Army (ANA) would do its best to maintain security. Last year, the militants had a shot at capturing some areas, but failed to realise their objective.
Likewise, Interior Minister Taj Mohammad Jahid instructed all police personnel to discharge their duties efficiently and ensure security of people, especially during Nawroz celebrations. He also asked the people to cooperate with police.
Eklil Hakimi, the minister of finance, believe the country would gradually inch towards stability in political, security and economic spheres. The Afghans would see peace and stability in their homeland, he said. National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar claimed Afghanistan had successfully dealt with last year’s difficult challenges, proving to the enemies it would not surrender to their threats. The security personnel were in a position to defend their motherland, he said. Excessive use of national resources, water and soil and air pollution endangered the environment, he said, asking the people to eschew throwing trash on roads or in drains.
The acting head of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) said in his greeting message: “I hope the New Year will be the year of peace and stability.”
National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief, Mohammad Massoud Andarabi, also wished happy Nawroz to all people of Afghanistan.
