BAGHLAN (BNA) A recent survey of the current humanitarian situation in Baghlan province shows that more than 800,000 people are in need of humanitarian assistance.

According to a recent survey of the current humanitarian situation in Baghlan, more than 800,000 people are in need of humanitarian assistance, said Alexis Besconili, the UN High Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, at a meeting with local officials in Baghlan on Wednesday.

Alexis Besconili praised the transparency of the aid process and called the role of the Islamic Emirate important in ensuring transparency and fighting corruption.

Alexis called on humanitarian organizations to work transparently in the aid process and to encourage organizations that have been shut down in Baghlan to resume their activities.

Alexis announced the establishment of food stores in Baghlan to provide better care to the needy and said that it was impossible to send aid without the coordination and cooperation of the local authorities and called on the local authorities to Collaborate with donors in this area.

Mawlavi Abdul Mateen Akhundzada, director of Baghlan economy, told the gathering that there were 40 registered international organizations in the province, which 20 of the registered involved in humanitarian aid.
