NPC Approves Seven Contracts worth 345 Million AFG

Kabul (BNA) Presided over by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the national procurement commission’s session was held yesterday at presidential palace that as a result seven contracts worth 345 million AFG were approved. The approved contracts are include of the extension of security services project in Hamid Karzai International Airport and Herat, Kandahar and Mazar-e-Sharif airports, extension of maintenance services project in Hamid Karzai international airport, empowerment and providing facility for investment, delivering services project in Kabul mental hospital, first section of maintenance projects of electricity for ANA units, accommodation stuffs for Islamic studies hostels of Zabul and accommodation stuffs for general directorate of administrative affairs. Discussing on the respective projects, the country’s President asserted that in procurement and granting contracts’ process, legal standards, economic price, quality and transparency were considered and limitation of contracts which had been common in the past were not acceptable.
In connection with maintenance of electricity project for ANA units, President Ghani said the respective system would be changed to continued electricity gaenerating units in long-term, adding that discussion continuing in this regard with international partners. In the session, MoD was tasked to prepare a particular procedure for current maintenance system of electricity. National procurement commission tasked ministry of education to work on centralization of contracts for hostels of provincial directorates of education for coming year. The country’s President asserted that governors and provincial institutions should seriously work towards implementation of procurement law and spend in accordance to the approved budgets. In the session, a project related to education ministry was rejected due to not observing the procurement law, while other three projects related to De Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), ministries of communications and Information Technology and education were postponed to coming session for further reviewing.
