Saturday March 18, 2017

Kabul (BNA) In a meeting with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Afghanistan Ulama Council (AUC) while flaying the Kabul recent terrorist attacks said that attack on Sardar Mohammad Dawoud Khan Hospital was not justifiable in any religion and called it an anti-human and un-Islamic act, the President Press Office said in a statement. The session was held at the Presidential Palace the other day, during which Mowlavi Qiamuddin Kashaf, head of the AUC was present, according to the statement. In a declaration which was read out by Sheikh Hussain Haidari, Afghanistan’s Ulama Council condemned the border closure by Pakistan, harassment of Afghan refugees in that country and cross-border shelling, the statement added. The statement added that the AUC asked Pakistan to immediately stop its cruel acts that violated all humanitarian principles. They expressed grave concern over sending of Afghan youth to Syria, asking the Iranian officials to end the process and help in resolving Afghan migrants’ issues, the statement continued. The clerics in the statement also requested the government to pay serious attention to enrolling children and youth in education institutes especially for religious studies, in order to prevent their going abroad, which results in their recruitment against Afghanistan. After hearing the council’s declaration, President Ghani said Afghanistan’s enemies had snatched lives and education opportunities from the citizens, including children, the statement quoted the president as saying. He branded the terrorists as the enemies of present and future generations, because they wanted to see Afghans live in perpetual humiliation and backwardness. The president asked the religious scholars to spread public awareness and inform people through mosques about the causes and impacts of the war imposed on the Afghans. “Those who violate human values and commit crimes against Afghan people should be exposed and made to face legal action — no matter what position or authority they have,” the president said.  President Ghani thanked the Ulama for motivating the youth to join defense and security forces, saying terrorist factions including the Taliban were committing crimes against humanity by carrying out suicide attacks and bombings. About finding alternative routes for the transit of commercial goods, the president said his talks with the new government of Uzbekistan were yielding good results. Efforts were underway to find other routes besides the Aqina and Chabahar ports, the president added. The issues being faced by Afghan youth have also been discussed with Iran, the statement concluded.
