President Ghani Holds Farewell Meeting With Outgoing U.S. Diplomats

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani held farewell meeting with U.S. deputy ambassador to Kabul, David E. Lindwall and the embassy’s chargé d’affaires, Ms. Elizabeth at the Presidential Palace the other day, his office said in a statement.
According to the statement, during the meeting which was also attended by U.S. ambassador to Kabul, to appreciate their efforts on bolstering relations between the two countries, President Ghani conferred a state medal of Ghazi Mir Masjidi Khan to Mr. Lindwall and a state medal of Malalai to Ms. Elizabeth. Thanking the two U.S. diplomats for their efforts during their mission in Afghanistan, the president asked them to visit Afghanistan in the future too, the statement added. Furthermore, Mr. Lindwall and Ms. Elizabeth expressed glad on their mission in Afghanistan, adding Afghanistan is in our hearts and we hope the government and people of Afghanistan get succeed in their efforts on institutionalizing democracy and ensuring security, the statement concluded.
