Nonstandard Cricket Stadium Behind Failure To Invite Foreign Teams, Official

Kabul (BNA) In a meeting with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, head of cricket board, Lutfullah Mashaal said lack of standard cricket gymnasium was behind failure to invite foreign cricketers to Afghanistan, BNA reported the other day.
In the meeting, attended by Eklil Hakimi, Finance Minister, Sayed Mansoor Naderi, urban development minister and Dr. Mohammad Akram Khpulwak, special representative to the President, Lutfullah Mashaal congratulated the recent victory of the country’s cricket team to the President and the people of Afghanistan said, the team was first in grade as it could defeat the world strongest team, said the agency.
“Attention and encouragement of the President has given the cricket players morality and helped them gain many victories in world matches,” the agency quoted a statement from the presidential press office. Mashaal said due to lack of standard cricket stadium, they can’t invite cricketers from foreign countries, asking the president for addressing the problem, the agency added. Meanwhile, trainer of the cricket team, Mohammad Stanekzai spoke about the success of his led team said, in a short they gained further success. Congratulating the recent victory of the cricket team and lauding their effort to win the great achievement, the country’s President said he would do his best to provide vast and standard cricket ground, through a proposal by the team leadership and approval of the cabinet meeting.
