NUG Serious To Fight Corruption, Dr. Abdullah

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met yesterday with general director of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Rajiv Shah and his accompanied delegation at Sapidar Palace. 
According to BNA, Rajiv Shah first congratulated chief executive post and formation of national unity government to Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, adding USAID is committed to enduring short-term and long-term assistance to Afghanistan. Hinting in connection with launching a program for Afghan women, Rajiv Shah considered the support of national unity government from the program encouraging adding that USAID hopes new cabinet of Afghanistan would be soon formed national unity government would pay robust consideration to women affairs in the country and take basic and practical steps towards counter corruption in the country.
In return, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan expressed gratitude to presence of Rajiv Shah and his accompanied delegation visiting Afghanistan after formation of national unity government, praising USAID for its assistance to Afghanistan. CEO Dr. Abdullah added that his country is interested in investment of USAID in agriculture and infrastructures sector of Afghanistan, saying that national unity government would deal with US and Afghanistan allies with cooperation and friendly moral and the relations between the two countries would be further extended.
Dr. Abdullah further said national unity government is committed to seriously counter corruption drive in the country. USAID Chairman pledged to increase and endure the agency’s assistance to Afghanistan under the leadership of national unity government, adding the agency is committed to investment in agriculture sector and infrastructures of the country.
