Kabul (BNA) Upon the advent of the new year, sapling plantation campaign was launched throughout the country by different public and private organizations for improvement of environment situation. In continuation of this program, the female employees of NEPA planted two hundred saplings in Khair Khana Women Park. A function was held on this occasion with the participation of women council of PD-11, Greenery department of Kabul Municipality, civil society, environment watch and female employees of NEPA. The head of Kabul Municipality Greenery Department Eng Nasreen Sabri called important sapling plantation at home and work environment and encouraged women to plant sapling and asked them to plant one sapling at least and prevent pollution. She added, beside Khair Khana park, her department has distributed saplings to other districts of Kabul and so far over 20000 saplings have been planted across the capital city. She went on to say, beside rehabilitation of Kabul old gardens, the Kabul Municipality has constructed over 30 new parks in Kabul city out of which 28 parks have been opened and work is in progress on the two rest.
Similarly Chief of Gender of NEPA Nadera Rashid called role of women in environment protection effective called them the factors of culture transferring added that women are capable to protect natural resources. The Kabul citizens have been witnessing increasing pollution and reports were released on out breaking of fatal diseases and casualties which have created grave concern among government and non-government authorities”. The authorities of the MoAIL said that sapling plantation program was started in warm climate areas Feb 04, to March 19, 2016 and in cold climate areas started on March 06 to April 15, 2016. The NEPA started this program under the slogan of “Greenery of nature, reward of the next world” and asked all government, non-government organizations, civil society, media and pan people to take part in it. Gulmina a local woman said, “Khair Khana park is an entertainment place which is now green and fresh, all women can enjoy it. Creation of such parks is very important for environment protection and prevention of pollution. She asked the people to tell their children not to destroy the newly planted saplings.
