NUG Leaders, Australian Governor General Discuss Bilateral Ties

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met yesterday with Australia’s Governor General Peter Cosgrove in Kabul. In the meeting held at presidential palace, both sides discussed relations between the two countries in various fields.
The Australian governor general while recalling cooperation of Australian troops and other international partners with Afghan defense and security forces said the issue has resulted that Afghan security forces took responsibility for security of their country, adding that Australia was committed for assistance and economic development in Afghanistan.
Peter Cosgrove also recalled of recent victories of Afghanistan national cricket team in World T20 games and congratulated the victories to President and the people of Afghanistan. Afterwards, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani praised Australian troops for their sacrifices and activities in Uruzgan and their role in training of Afghan Special Forces.
In the meeting, Peter Cosgrove invited the country’s President to pay a visit to Australia and President Ghani while expressing gratitude said he would visit Australia in a proper time.
According to another report, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met yesterday with Australia’s General Governor Peter Cosgrove in Kabul. In the meeting, the country’s chief executive while praising Australia for its efforts and sacrifices in Afghanistan asked for continued and expansion of relations between the two countries in various fields laying emphasize on joint cooperation in counter terrorism and extremism.
Afterwards, Peter Cosgrove emphasized on his country’s continued cooperation Afghanistan.
