Protection, Restoration of Historical Relics MoIC’s Main Priority, Minister Safi

Kabul (BNA)  Acting and nominee Minister of Information and Culture Ms. Hasina Safi in a meeting with Ms. Monica Lopez Prat, conservator-restorer of Archaeological Heritage and lecturer at Conservation and Restoration Department of Barcelona University, said that protection and restoration of the historical relics and monuments were Ministry of Information and Culture’s (MoIC) main priority, BNA reported yesterday.
In the meeting which was also attended by Archeology Director Noor Agha Noori, Ms. Monica briefed the minister on her plans for restoration of historical relics and holding of training programs for the staffs of Archeology directorate and different universities’ archeology departments.
She also hoped to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the field with ?Directorate of Archaeology as well as to carry-out a research program on how to preserve the historical relics and monuments in the near future, the agency added.
Calling protection and restoration of the historical relics as one of the priorities of MoIC, Minister Safi said:” We would like to utilize Spanish professors’ experiences in line with protection and restoration of the historical relics.”
Praising Monica’s cooperation, Minister Safi asked for expansion of such cooperation between the two countries.
According to another report, acting and nominee minister of information and culture Ms. Hasina Safi met Mehtarlam city’s mayor and a number of elders and culturists of Laghman province yesterday.  Representing others, Mayor Nazifullah Alokozay, Haji Turjan Sahak and university lecturer Omranullah Khanjar spoke and asked Ministry of Information and Culture’s attention towards historical and cultural heritages of Laghman Province.
Calling protection of cultural heritages MoIC’s main priority, Minister Safi thanked Laghman people’s attention and efforts for protection of the historical monuments.
