Minister Hakimi, WCO Acting SG Discuss Customs Reform

Kabul (BNA) Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance met Ricardo Treviño, Acting Secretary General of World Customs Organization here yesterday, a statement from Ministry of Finance said.
In the meeting, both sides discussed new strategy for Afghanistan Customs reforms, programs and workshops for implementation of reform and staff capacity building, modernization of Customs Department, crucial fight against corruption in Customs Department, national revenue increment, digitization of Customs System, facilities for trade and transit in the borders and connection of Afghan Customs systems to regional countries, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Minister of Finance introduced Mohammad Alokozay as Customs Technical Attaché to World Customs Organization for further development of Afghanistan’s relation with this organization, the statement concluded.
According to another report, Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance in series of his meeting in Brussels met Dr. Urban Rusnák, Secretary General of Energy Charter, in Afghanistan Embassy to Belgium.
Both Sides discussed strengthening relation between Afghanistan and Energy Charter, mutual cooperation in future, investment in renewable energy in Afghanistan, capacity building programs for employees of Ministry of Energy and Water and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat and other relevant issues.
