Kabul (BNA) In according with the instruction of President Hamid Karzai and decision of the cabinet, a high-ranking government delegation led by Dr. Sayed Makhdom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture and members of the Nuristan Deputies at the National Assembly went to Nuristan for visiting the government organs and to meet the people there.
The delegation initially met with the governor and heads of local departments Dr. Raheen had separate meeting with the elders and influential of the Paroon, Begmetal and Waman Ghusht districts of the province, while, the governor and the deputies of the province at National Assembly, members of the provincial council were present.
Dr. Raheen conveyed the greetings of President Karzai and the Council of Ministers.
He told them that you are noble people of Nuristan, you had glorious past during the Jehad, you were the pioneers of Jehad and you sustained pains and faced difficulties but resisted all these miseries and defended the country.
Today you are decisively stood on defense of the country as well and work on the side of your national police.
The elders and influential shared their problems and needs.
They said that Nuristan has 40 Km distance from Badakhshan, why a road is not built on such a short distance so that Nuristan is connected.
They added that for three years the roads to the province is closed and our people are killed by the enemies on the road and the president had issued and extraordinary order in this respect but no measure was taken.
The elders of Wama complained that when our people including the men, women stood in defense of the government and they were fighting against the enemies they were not even provided with food.
Another problem that they touched is non-existence of the national army there.
They said that there are no premises for local government departments.
They also touched on the hydropower station that is remaining half-complete; the forests are on the verge of destruction.
They asked for merging of Wakhan to the province.
Dr. Raheen praised the services of the Governor of Nuristan Alhaj Tamim Nuristani.
Dr. Raheen assured them that proposals will be presented to the President and the Council of Ministers.
