Further Pressures On Pakistan A Must To Curb Terrorism

Sunday November 5, 2017

Kabul (BNA) Based on Pakistani media reports, the US has shared with Pakistan a list with details of 20 terrorist groups operating in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Afghanistan government is asking the Pakistan government to end its double policies and root out those groups that do not stop violence. Soon after Pakistan media reported of the list shared with Pakistan government, deputy spokesperson to chief executive Omid Mesam said, “If practical steps were not taken against terrorist groups, Pakistan stability would face with serious risks and the region would further fragile, so it is necessary that a convergence should be created based on honesty in the region so we witness improvement of situation in Afghanistan and the region.
It is said that the the list includes three types of terror groups: those who launch attacks into Afghanistan, those who attack targets inside Pakistan and those who are focused on Jammu and Kashmir. But, top on the list is the Haqqani network which, the US says has safe havens in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in northwestern Pakistan and uses them to launch attacks into Afghanistan. Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, Jundullah, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Jangwi, al Qaeda, Daesh and Pakistan Taliban Movement are other terrorist groups that are included in the US list.
Pakistan has been recently accused by the international community in particular the US of supporting terrorist groups and Haqqani Network. If the country does not cooperate honestly in counter terrorist effort, it will probably face political isolation by the international community. Pakistan is now trying to get rid of current disaster by putting an effective step in counter terrorism effort, regaining the international community trust lost in the past few years and preventing from political isolation. The new step taken by Pakistan is to support intra Afghani dialogues between Afghanistan government and its opponent groups.
The international community in particular the US have put necessary pressures on Pakistan to stop supporting terrorist groups and make them start peace talks with Afghanistan government. In consideration to changing circumstances in the region, Pakistan will make use of its particular skill for counter terrorist effort and making Taliban group join peace process in Afghanistan.
How terrorist groups can have safe havens and improve their capabilities if Pakistan stops supporting them, providing them with money, equipment and safe havens. Reaching peace and stability is the desire of the people of both countries. In a peaceful environment in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, violence and insecurities will end in the two countries, the people of the two countries will live in peace and tranquility as well as economic development will further improve between the two countries.
Meanwhile, sources have reported that US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson given a list of 75 terrorists to Pakistani officials when he has recently visited Islamabad. Previously, Afghanistan ministry of foreign affairs had given a list of 32 terrorists’ training centers to Pakistani officials.
