President Ghani Chairs High Urban Development Council

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan chaired the High Urban Development Council, said two international companies have been negotiated on two agreements, one of them would be signed by the ministry of urban development and the other would signed by the capital zone administration, the BNA reported the other day.
The president said negotiation would be taken place with the private sector which has problems in the management of the project, according to the agency. The agency quoted the president as saying that the strategy of the capital zone should precisely be evaluated and the requirements of the next generation and their life condition should be considered. According to the president, some 400,000 hectares of lands should be taken under irrigation and the available irrigable lands should be improved, the agency added. He said short-term projects should be distributed among the people and the limited capacities should be highly taken advantage, as well as using solar power should be in the capital zone. The president instructed for establishment of a committee to provide a specific plan for city traffic department to be discussed in the high council for urban development, the implementation process to be scheduled, a process to help restore traffic order, the agency continued. According to the agency, the president asked for brining change in the tax-paying plan, and that including Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan, Shahr-e-Naw and other areas should be distinguished to impose taxes based on the price of the properties. He said public awareness was a must in this field and that a central system should be provided for the universities facing such problems.
